The Pedasí district has been used extensively for cattle ranching, agriculture, and industrial fishing.
Today the region is threatened by deforestation, climate change and the expansion of unsustainable coastal development projects. The Pablo Barrios Refuge is an ecosystem jewel within this dry arc. Help us protect it.

It constitutes approximatively 21 kilometers of coastline from the mouth of the Purio River to Punta Mala, and has an area of 15,000 hectares of which 11,000 hectares are marine habitat in the Gulf of Panama
